Geagea tells supporters to end protest against LBC

The leader of the Lebanese Forces, Dr. Samir Geagea told his supporters to end their protest in front of the LBC TV headquarters and return home.

Thousands of supporters gathered around LBC TV in Adma , just north of Beirut to protest against the cancellation of a scheduled talk show for Dr. Geagea with Marcel Ghanem on his popular political program ” Kalam el Nas ” ( talk of the people ). The talk show was scheduled for 9:00 PM Lebanon time on Thursday .

According to news reports the chairman of the Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation ( LBC ) Sheikh Pierre Dhaher surprised the media office of the Lebanese forces today when he called to inform about the cancellation of the show for Dr. Geagea for legal reasons.

Geagea apparently has filed a law suit against LBC Chairman and the board members (Raif Said Al-Bustani, Marcel Thahir, and Randa Saad Kameel, Roula Saad, Rima Saad, and Marwan Oscar Jazzar, and Salahuddin Nizam Usseiran) accusing the station of mismanagement, misappropriation of funds and fraud.

The cancellation of the appearance of Geagea angered his supporters who protested against the action of the TV station. The Lebanese army intervened and prevented the protesters from entering the LBC offices.

The media office of the Lebanese forces was also angered by LBC action and called the cancellation ” irresponsible, illegal , unprofessional and restricts the right of expression as enshrined in the Lebanese laws”.

LBC was founded by the Lebanese Forces ( LF) during the time when former president Bachir Gemayel was the

head of the organization for the purpose of reporting about the Christian cause and the persecution of Christians during the Syrian occupation. LBC was forced by Syria during the occupation to transfer the shares owned by it to Sheikh Pierre Dhaher.

Dr. Geagea is a prominent member of the anti- Syrian March 14 coalition
