Siniora: The postponement of the elections reflects a deep crisis
Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora brought up the possibility of postponing the presidential election session from Wednesday until Friday.
“The postponement of the elections reflects a deep crisis,” he said.
“The rotation of powers is a primary principle of democracy,” said Siniora. “We are looking forward to the election of a new president,” he added.
Siniora held a press conference in the Grand Serail, where he presented the achievements of his government
from 2006 to 2007.
“This government is committed to handing over the power to a new president,” Siniora declared. “The government has been operating according to the constitution and will end its mandate according to the constitution, too.”
