Lahoud took home 2 officers and 60 army troops
Lebanon”s former pro-Syrian President Emile Lahoud took home with him two officers and sixty army troops that he personally picked from the Baabda presidential guard to protect him.
This is the first time in the history of the Lebanese Republic that this happens and according to analysts it is a violation of the Lebanese laws.
When the former President Amine Gemayel returned to Lebanon, Lahoud who at the time was the commander of the army, sent an officer to visit Gemayel”s wife to inform her that only 6 soldiers will be given to them to protect them in accordance with the constitution.
This development according to analysts will surely anger the army chief General Michel Suleiman and the government in Lebanon and could lead to confrontation with the former president who stepped down last Friday.
