MP Murr encourages Siniora to bring about presidential
elections as soon as possible
MP Michel Murr said he is not participating in the Rabieh consultations, for he is not member of the Change and Reform bloc, but only an ally.
Aoun had called on Christian leaders to meet with him at Rabieh for consultations over the latest developments in Lebanon.
“The vacuum in the presidency is not acceptable,” said Murr after his meeting Prime Minister Fouad Siniora.
“I don’t think there will be any steps taken by the opposition in the street,” Murr said. “The Lebanese army and Internal Security Forces declared that they will keep down anyone resorting to violence,” he added.
Murr said he encouraged PM Siniora to bring about the presidential elections as soon as possible.
When asked about the government’s legitimacy, Murr reminded reporters that his son, the defense minister, is part of it.
