Aoun Pledges Sit-ins “Everywhere”
Free Patriotic Movement leader Michel Aoun pledged Wednesday to sponsor sit-in protests “every where.”
Aoun, talking to reporters at his residence in Rabiyeh after rounds of consultations with Christian figures, said:
“God willing, there will be practical moves soon. And certainly such moves would be within peaceful and democratic frameworks.”
“But this time, the moves would not be restricted to one place, last time we launched a sit-in at Riyadh Solh square, but today we will launch sit-ins every where,” Aoun added, according to state-run National News Agency.
Asked to comment on nominating Army Commander Gen. Michel Suleiman for president, Aoun said: “Let them overcome their contradictions and consult legal authorities regarding amending the constitution and we”ll comment after that.” He did not elaborate.
He said his consultations are “not directed” against Bkirki.
Bkirki, he stressed, is “an authority that we resort to when things become difficult.”
