Jumblatt: Political developments have necessitated a constitutional amendment
Druze leader Walid Jumblatt said that political developments have necessitated a constitutional amendment, especially after the failure to elect a new president.
“The protection of accomplishments that have been implemented so far by the Cedar Revolution necessitates this realistic approach,” Jumblatt told the weekly Al-Anbaa.
He also stressed on March 14’s coherence and its efforts to preserve the democratic system.
Jumblatt also noted that the decision to amend the constitution this time is purely a Lebanese one, as opposed to Syrian amendment that extended the mandate of former President Emile Lahoud.
