Samir Geagea: Amal and Hezbollah received a green light over the presidential elections

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea said that obstacles in front of a constitutional amendment are legal, not political, because March 14 forces have refused to enter into the “political market.”

“March 8 forces are still rejecting that the constitutional amendment pass through the government, while other procedures are still being considered,” Geagea said.

“So far, there aren’t any solutions that skip the role of the government,” he added.

Geagea told reporters at Maarab that despite the fact that obstructions are being implemented by Lebanese actors, regional parties are benefiting from them.

“The opposition’s meeting yesterday at Rabieh is proof that a green light was given from a foreign party to Amal and Hezbollah over the presidential elections,” he said.

Geagea indirectly criticized MP Michel Aoun’s call to limit the presidential mandate to two years. “Is it in the

interests of Christians to do as such?” he asked.

Commenting on the absence of Lebanese Forces MPs from the parliament today, with the exception of MP Antoine Zahra, Geagea said that the course of today’s session was very clear.

“If a session was to be held, other LF MPs would have attended,” Geagea declared.
