Minister Fatfat: The opposition is still obstructing progress and resorting to political blackmail
Sports and Youth Minister Ahmed Fatfat said that March 14 MPs will attend tomorrow’s presidential session aimed at electing a new head-of-state.
“Unfortunately, the opposition is still obstructing the elections and resorting to blackmail in order to achieve political gains,” he said.
Fatfat reiterated the rejection of constitutional amendment or suspension outside the constitutional procedures. “In all cases, the amendment must pass by through government,” he noted.
“Things were going well on the internal level, but the obstruction seems to come from regional parties,” Fatfat said.
He also noted that any government has the right to review or amend decision taken by its predecessor. “Yet, the opposition’s demand to reconsider all the government’s decisions is aimed at creating obstacles,” Fatfat said.
He also noted that the majority is making efforts to put an end to the political vacuum, while the opposition is unwilling to make any step towards any solution.
