MP Zahra: Berri is trying to take responsibility off his shoulders
MP Antoine Zahra of the Lebanese Forces said that contacts are being made on the local, regional and international levels to explain the risks that are threatening Lebanon and its Christians.
“The prolongation of the presidential vacuum might lead to internal disturbances,” Zahra told Future Television.
“If the parliament does not take necessary measures to amend the constitution, the government will take steps in this regard,” he added.
Commenting on Berri’s calls on March 14 to enter into consultations with MP Michel Aoun, Zahra said that the former is trying to take responsibility off his shoulders.
“Had the majority agreed on violating the constitution last week and electing a new president without going to the government, General Sleiman would have been elected without going to Aoun or his allies, who are calling for an agreement on a package deal,” Zahra said.
