National Liberal Party: responsibility lies with those seeking vacuum
The National Liberal Party (NLP) said that the burden of responsibility for the assassination of Brigadier General François Hajj lies on the shoulder of those who have led Lebanon into, and are still seeking to prolong, the state of vacuum.
“These factions are acting as such in order to serve their own interests and those of their regional allies,” the party said in a statement.
“It is not a coincidence that Syrian Vice President Farouk Al-Sharaa was bragging that Syria’s allies in Lebanon are still powerful,” it added.
The party called on the government to draft a constitutional amendment, and, since it is handling the presidential authorities, to submit it to parliament to be approved by a two-thirds majority.
“MPs must take the necessary steps to prevent the ongoing vacuum and defend Lebanon against threats to it,” it added.
