
Khalilzad: Hariri Tribunal to be Set Up by Next February
U.S. Permanent Representative in the United Nations Zalmay Khalilzad, expected the Special Tribunal for Lebanon to be set up by next February.
Khalilzad said that the Under-Secretary-General for Legal Affairs and United Nations Legal Counsel Nicolas Michel informed him that the tribunal has huge capabilities after securing the necessary finances.
However, The U.S. representative expressed his concern over the on going delay of the presidential elections in Lebanon, despite the positive developments.
He added he is holding consultations with other Security Council missions to issue a new statement calling for facilitating the presidential elections in Lebanon.
U.N. International Independent Investigation Commission was set up to probe the assassination of former PM Rafik Hariri and the following assassinations.
