Samir Geagea: Dialogue can only take place at Baabda
Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea recalled the initiative of Speaker Nabih Berri that called on the pro-government party to elect a president using a two-thirds quorum and the opposition to drop its demand for an extensive government.
“March 8 is acting irresponsibly and outside of the law,” said Geagea. “The constitution is very clear, and there will be no agreement over a package deal before the election of the president,” he added.
“March 14 has decided not to accept blackmail anymore,” Geagea told reporters at Maarab. “We have agreed, especially with MP Walid Jumblatt, on the coming steps,” he added.
Commenting on MP Michel Aoun’s call to discuss the conditions he proposed, Geagea said that the normal place for discussion is Baabda, and that will happen after the election of Army Commander General Michel Sleiman.
He also called on Aoun to meet with him and discuss Lebanese Christians. “As for suggesting unrealistic and
unreasonable conditions, it will not result in anything,” Geagea said.
