
Abul-Gheit Discusses Lebanon Crisis with Kouchner, Moussa
Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul-Gheit has discussed the ongoing crisis in Lebanon with his French counterpart Bernard Kouchner and Arab League chief Amr Moussa.
The talks held in Cairo on Tuesday focused on the latest developments and efforts by the international community to help end the presidential stalemate.
Lebanon has been without a head of state since former President Emile Lahoud”s term expired on November 23 with feuding political parties unable to agree on a successor.
The tug-of-war has triggered mediation by France and the United States but the Western-backed ruling majority and the opposition, backed by Syria and Iran, are still locked in a bitter standoff.
