MP Antoine Zahra: The opposition has not received a green light for presidential elections
MP Antoine Zahra of the Lebanese Forces said that tomorrow’s presidential-election session will not be held because Speaker Berri and opposition factions have not received the green light from Syria and Iran.
“On the other hand, things on the ground are still the same. The fate of tomorrow’s session will be similar to that of those preceding it,” he said.
Zahra reiterated March 14’s will to stand by the constitution. He also said that March 8 will come to understand that threats and tension will only lead to Lebanon’s destruction.
Zahra said that France has taken the initiative to talk to Syria about March 14 and its demarche toward independence.
“This is due to Syria’s dogmatic policy on Lebanon,” he said.
Zahra denounced angry statements directed at the Maronite Patriarch and bishops. He also refused to hold MP Michel Aoun responsible for the delay in electing a president, “for he is being used as a cover by the opposition.”
