Free Shia Movement calls on the government to appoint Shia ministers
Sheikh Mohammed Al-Hajj Hassan, head of the Free Shia Movement, called on all Lebanese parties, including Hezbollah, to forget their differences and start dialogue anew in order to reach a solution.
“The language of accusations and swearing will only drive us into the abyss, where everyone will be losers,” Hassan said.
“Let no one think that he is capable of eliminating the others. The state cannot be built by accusing others of treason, skepticism and lack of trust,” he added.
Hassan called on the government to pay attention to deprived areas such as Baalbek Al-Hermel, Akkar and Jbeil, and to finish paying constituents compensations for natural disasters and the July War of 2006.
He also demanded that the price of electricity, water and telephone services be reduced.
“The government must adjust the state of Shia representation in the government by appointing Shia ministers,” Hassan said.
“The Shia sect has a lot of potential and well-educated youth,” he declared.
Hassan called on the parliament to convene, amend Article 49 of the constitution, elect Army Commander General Michel Sleiman and hold MPs who abstained from participation responsible for the electoral crisis.
He also called on Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah to save Lebanon from those seeking to destroy it.
“There is no interest in driving the Shia sect into isolation and into the arms of a state which is challenging our Arab nationalism and Islamic unity,” Hassan declared.
