MP Antoine Zahra: Lebanon must benefit from Arab and international support

 

MP Antoine Zahra of the Lebanese Forces bloc commented on the monthly statement of Maronite bishops by expressing hope that all will come back their senses and realize that Bkirki has always acted as a national reference point.

 

“There is some major interference in Lebanon,” Zahra noted. “Today’s attack takes the form of portraying the government as abusive and taking over the presidential authorities.”

 

Zahra said that the attacks are also targeting leaders who are siding with Bkirki.

 

“This is why former President Amin Gemayel and the Lebanese Forces have been criticized. All this is aimed at thwarting the last remaining constitutional institution, which is the government,” Zahra added.

 

He also added that the majority is dealing with the Arab and international communities as Lebanon is a part of these communities.

 

“Lebanon must benefit from this support in order to strengthen its rights and bring about the reemergence of the state and its institutions,” Zahra added.

 

He also called for uncovering Syria’s obstructionist tactics and said that Damascus should be made to understand that the path to reestablishing relations with the Arab and international community is through facilitating the presidential elections in Lebanon.
