Minister Ahmed Fatfat accuses Hezbollah leader of bending the truth

Youth and Sports Minister Ahmed Fatfat accused Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah of building obstacles to a solution and calling for the prolongation of the presidential vacuum.

Yesterday, Nasrallah said in an interview with NBN Television that the vacuum is better than a government without a “guaranteeing third.”

“Nasrallah has insisted on the ‘blocking one-third vote,’” Fatfat told Voice of Lebanon radio station.

According to Fatfat, Hezbollah’s secretary general wants to get hold of a one-third share of the government in order to control political, economic, security and financial decisions.

“His threat was very clear when he announced that there won’t be a state unless there is participation. In other words: ‘no state if we don’t get our demands,’” Fatfat noted.

He also said that Nasrallah statements are aimed at disfiguring the government’s stances.

“On the political level, Nasrallah is supporting and protecting the Palestinian weaponry outside Palestinian camps. He is the one who set up ‘red lines’ in the army’s way during the Nahr al-Bared military confrontations with Fatah al-Islam, and he is the one who wants the ‘military normalization’ of Palestinians in Lebanon, so as to protect his plans,” Fatfat declared.

He also expressed his regret over the statements of Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Mouallem, in which he announced Syria’s decision to break off relations with Paris.

“The pro-government party does not object to the president having the final word or decision; that is giving him the right to decide whether to use to ‘blocking one-third’,” Fatfat noted.
