Fares Soueid blames Syria for political tension in Lebanon

 

Former MP Fares Soueid said that the Syrian regime bears the most responsibility for the political tension in Lebanon.

 

He also stressed that the Arab Foreign Ministers Meeting should result in more pressure being put on Syria to help facilitate the presidential elections in Lebanon.

 

“Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah wants to obstruct the elections as a preemptive measure against any decision taken by the coming government that does not agree with his objectives,” Soueid told the Voice of Lebanon radio station.

 

Commenting on talk over the opposition’s expected moves, Soueid said that the call for participation is not made by threatening.

 

“The majority will not accept being blackmailed, even if an opposition faction has weapons,” he added.
