Former Minister Sleiman Franjieh: the opposition does not fear war

 

Former Minister Sleiman Franjieh said that Saudi Arabia and the US bear responsibility over the failure of the French initiative.

 

“Riyadh pressured MP Saad Hariri to obstruct the initiative rather than facilitating it,” Franjieh told the Iranian television Al-Alam.

 

He also said that Army Commander General Michel Sleiman is not the opposition’s presidential candidate, but a consensus one.

 

“MP Michel Aoun is the opposition’s candidate,” he added.

 

“The Christian opposition considers that the Taef Agreement has punished Christians,” Franjieh said. “We favor its amendment,” he added.

 

Franjieh said that the opposition does not fear war. “If we reach this stage, the opposition has nothing to lose,” he declared.

 

Commenting on the exceptional meeting of the Arab Foreign Minister at Cairo, Franjieh said “give us the ‘guaranteeing one-third’ and there won’t be a need for your meeting,” he added.
