Lebanon’s Tourism Minister Joseph Sarkis said in an interview with the ” Elaph “: “There is a serious Saudi – Egyptian plan that will be presented to resolve the presidential crisis in Lebanon at the Arab foreign ministers summit in Cairo.”

In response to threats of more sit-ins by the Hezbollah led opposition he said : “The sit-ins and protests did not yield any results . Besides, the Lebanese are sick and tired of all these protests and want to live a decent and normal life .
Sarkis said the last 2 weeks of 2007 saw a surge in the number of tourists and hoped that this trend will continue throughout 2008 and beyond . But added : “This could only be achieved with the election of the President of the Republic “.
Regarding the decision of Syria to stop cooperating with France on ending the Lebanese crises he said: “This has exposed Syria’s real intentions. Now France and the whole world knows who is behind the political crises of Lebanese .”
Regarding General Michel Aoun he said: His popularity has nosedived during the last 2 years ( since his agreement with Hezbollah ) and the future elections will reflect this drastic drop in his popularity.
