MP Mustafa Allouch: Expanded dialogue committee joining all factions is required
MP Mustafa Allouch of the Future bloc said that March 14 forces have been calling for dialogue ever since “March 8 forces, supported by the FPM, decided to resort to the street and overthrow the democratic regime in Lebanon.”
“In spite of this, we are still calling for dialogue,’ Allouch told the Voice of Lebanon radio station.
He also noted that the resolution of disagreements between Lebanese political factions requires an expanded dialogue committee joining all factions.
“The most important thing is the election of a president, especially since differences between the Lebanese are not limited to the proposal of Aoun and cannot be solved through bilateral discussions which could take months,” he noted.
“If our attention is focused on dialogue, this means that we will remain without a president for a long time,” Allouch said.
Commenting on Speaker Nabih Berri’s call for the pro-government party to negotiate with Aoun, Allouch said the opposition is free to name anyone it wants as its negotiator. “But what could we negotiate over?” he asked.
