Geagea Criticizes Nasrallah”s War Declaration
Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea on Friday said no one but the government has the right to declare war and said the majority would adopt a new action plan if the Arab initiative collapsed.
Commenting on Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah”s declaration of open war against Israel, Geagea told reporters: “No one has the right to commit all the Lebanese people to a certain confrontation … such a decision lies with state institutions, in particular the government and parliament.”
In answering a question as to how would the March 14 forces elect a president, Geagea said: “At present we await outcome of the Arab initiative and we”ll proceed with efforts to facilitate it.”
However, he added, “if the Arab initiative failed we”ll meet to consider the other path that leads to the election of a president.”
Asked whether March 14 MPs would elect a president by simple majority, Geagea said: “All options are open.”
