
Saniora Discusses Crisis in Kuwait ahead of European Tour
Premier Fouad Saniora arrived in Kuwait on Sunday for an official two-day visit to discuss the current political impasse.
Saniora was received at Kuwait international Airport by his counterpart Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and high ranking officials, Kuwait News Agency, KUNA, reported.
In a meeting with Siniora, Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Sabah “stressed Kuwait”s support for Lebanon (and the need for) the Lebanese people to unite to resolve the crisis.”
He later met at his residence at Bayan Palace the foreign minister Sheikh Mohammad al-Sabah and Minister of Electricity and Water and Acting Minister of Oil Mohammad Abdullah Al-Olaim.
Kuwaiti Foreign Minister was quoted by KUNA on Saturday as saying that all Arab states should help in “clearing the air,” which is currently “poisoned,” to pave the way for a successful summit.
“The first place where we must start in order to clear the air is Lebanon, through the implementation of the Arab (League) initiative stipulating the election of a president for Lebanon,” he added.
Premier Saniora”s visit to Kuwait comes ahead of a planned European tour that includes Britain and France to discuss the political deadlock and latest developments.
