MP Farid Habib: The opposition does not make its own decisions
MP Farid Habib of the Lebanese Forces said that the opposition does not want a solution or the election of a president.
“The opposition is trying to prolong the vacuum,” Habib told the Saudi daily Okaz.
He also ruled out the possibility that the upcoming four-party meeting announced by Arab League Secretary
General Amr Moussa would be a success.
“A dialogue with the opposition is like a discussion between deaf people,” Habib said. “They are only trying to obstruct solutions,” he added.
“When the majority’s representative asked them if they would participate in the election of a president if the 10-10-10 formula is approved, they said no. They want to control every detail about every person appointed in every ministry,” Habib said.
He also said he expects the next presidential-election session to be postponed again. “The opposition is not in control of its decisions but is receiving orders from those outside of Lebanon. The Syrians have clearly expressed their rejection of the presidential candidacy of Army Commander General Michel Sleiman,” Habib said.
“They are seeking an ongoing vacuum,” he added.
