Information Minister says Lebanon does not need “American reinforcement”
Minister of Information Ghazi Aridi confirmed that the Lebanese government was not in need of American guided-missile destroyers off the coast. “We do not need American reinforcement, nor do we need the reinforcement of others by Iran and Syria or by weapons which are not used for the benefit of Lebanon but in defense of individual projects,” he noted.
“We do not need destroyers. We do not need Iranian threats to eliminate Israel and destroy America on Lebanese territories. These projects are not linked to Lebanon; rather, they target Lebanese land, peace, economy and unity,” Aridi continued.
He also drew attention to news of the meeting between the Syrian ambassador to Washington and Israeli officials, reported by Israeli daily Haaretz, and the rumors of disagreement between Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah and slain operative Imad Mugniyah aired on an Iranian radio station. The irony, he continued was that such news coincided with “accusations that leaders of the majority forces are American allies.”
