Mouallem: Lebanon, Saudi to be Invited to Summit

 
Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem said Lebanon and Saudi Arabia will be invited to an Arab Summit scheduled to be held in Damascus March 29-30.

 

“The summit will be held in Damascus on time,” Muallem said in remarks published Wednesday.

 

He said the Arab summit will witness the highest level of representation ever, adding that Lebanon will decide who will represent it in the event a president was not elected by then.

 

On the ongoing political crisis pitting the government against the Hizbullah-led opposition, Mouallem said that the “no-winner, no-vanquished policy means partnership” among the various Lebanese groups.

 

“It doesn”t mean that the majority”s rights will be swallowed,” Muallem explained. “It means that the opposition should also take part in decision making.”

 

He said the new government should be represented the same way Parliament is – – that is 55 percent for the majority and 45 percent for the opposition.
