MP Zahra: Syria has exploited the Gaza incidents to avoid Arab boycott of the summit

 

MP Antoine Zahra of the Lebanese Forces said that Syria and Iran are controlling the obstruction process in Lebanon and taking advantage of the incidents in Gaza to prevent a boycott of the Damascus Summit.

 

“Syria is acting as if it had scored some points and as if nothing is compelling it to present compromises in order to facilitate the presidential elections in Lebanon,” Zahra told Al-Sharq radio station.

 

He also noted that the postponement of the presidential session until March 25 is only aimed at wasting time.

“Everyone knows that the problem lies in the failure to elect a president and the absence of a head of state,” he added.

 

Zahra noted that the memorandum being prepared by March 14 forces for the occasion of March 14 is aimed at ensuring contacts between all Lebanese.

 

He also stressed on the need to respect the framework of the Taif Agreement and to prevent foreign interference in Lebanon’s domestic affairs.
