Shiite cleric wants government to appoint Shiite ministers
Free Shiite movement (Tayyar) leader Sheikh Mohammad al-Haj Hassan issued a statement in which he said ” I hope The Lebanese people realize the gravity of the situation in Lebanon and added:
“I hope they will put pressure on their leaders to correct their mistakes , otherwise the security situation in Lebanon could very well explode”.
He accused Hezbollah of conspiring against the Shiite sect by holding it as hostage. He also criticized the government as not being serious in its discussion about the restoration / expanding of the cabinet.
He then asked: “What prevents the government from appointing Shiite ministers and start building a genuine state based on justice and equality”.
Five Shiite Amal and Hezbollah ministers resigned form the cabinet about 18 months ago in protest against the discussions by the cabinet of setting up the International Tribunal. Their absence is paralyzing the government and there are talks about replacing them with independent Shiites.
Sheikh Hassan asked ? Talking about justice , what is the result of the investigation of the Mar Mikhael riots ? he asked and questioned what causing the delay?
Hajj Hassan was very critical of the Hezbollah- led riots that resulted in 7 deaths last January.
