Abdo: Aoun”s past makes him ashamed of his present
In an interview with “Voice of Lebanon , former ambassador Johnny Abdo said General Michel Aoun is reminding us of his past because he is ashamed of his present.
Abdo said the surprise of the summit is that president Bashar al Assad did not criticize the United States, although the Media and his Lebanese allies have been criticizing the US nonstop, day and night. Alluding to Aoun”s attack against the US.
General Aoun who attacked the United states and declared Syria”s innocence last week (with regards to the assassination of Lebanon”s former Prime minister Rafik Hariri), accused Syria in 2005 when he was exiled in Paris that it was behind the murder of Hariri.
“I believe that he who had killed Hariri is the enemy of Syria”, Aoun said and added ” the Charges made in the Hariri crime are mere political blackmailing”, during his interview last Thursday, on his own station IOTV.
“General Aoun is responsible for the disruption of the presidential elections because he could go to the parliament to complete the quorum for the election of the President, but he didn”t “. Aoun he said “has placed his presidential ambition ahead of the Lebanese national interest”.
Abdo was very critical of the agreement between Aoun and Hezbollah which gave the group a Christian cover to destabilize the country.
Abdo added ” the summit has proven that the Lebanese formula has succeeded and that there is no other formula for Lebanon . This became obvious when the Arab leaders have agreed for the first time ever that Lebanon should have a Christian president representing it and that the presidential election should take place as soon as possible.”
Abdo said the Arabs called for solidarity which could spell out stability for Lebanon unless the Syrian President, decides to change course.
Abdo criticized Assad for saying at the conference that he has been negotiating with Israel while Lebanon has assumed the role of the resistance . He said Lebanon should not bear alone the burden of resistance and should not be fighting Iranian and Syrian proxy wars.
