Abou Al-Gheit reiterates support for Arab initiative
Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmad Abou Al-Gheit confirmed the ongoing coordination between Egyptian, Jordanian and Palestinian leaders to push the possibility of peace in the region.
After a tripartite meeting between Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, Jordanian King Abdullah II and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Cairo, Abou Al-Gheit said the Arab initiative continued in this concern, and was only confirmed once again in the Arab Summit last weekend in Damascus.
In a joint press conference with his Jordanian counterpart Salahuddine Al-Bashir, Abou Al-Gheit also said the Arab initiative was the only means to resolving the political impasse in Lebanon discussed at the Arab Summit.
