Bishop Audi for discussion in parliament
Greek Orthodox Metropolite of Beirut Elias Audi called on all members of parliament to fulfill their duties within parliament walls, “the specialized place for treating national issues.”
“The law should be at the service of the individual, rather than the individual at the service of the law,” he added.
After meeting with the head of the Lebanese Editors Syndicate, Melhem Karam, and a delegation representing the syndicate, Audi expressed his sorrow at the Lebanese people’s inability to hold jtheir MPs and politicians accountable for failing to do their duties.
Honesty and sincerity have become “lost” in Lebanon, Audi said, adding that Lebanese nationalism was fading as people “crawled after their own interests.”
