Daily says Mughniyeh probe will damage Syria
Syrian authorities have decided to hold the release of the investigations into the murder of Imad Mugniyah, a top Hizbullah operative assassinated in Damascus in February, a London-based pan-Arab newspaper reported on Tuesday.
Al-Quds Al-Arabi said Syria had decided to delay the announcement due to an escalation in tensions in both Syria and Lebanon after Israel conducted massive maneuvers near the South Lebanese border. Al-Quds Al-Arabi quoted a diplomatic Syrian source as saying that the announcement may prove “a big embarrassment to Syrian authorities,” as the role of neighboring Arab countries” intelligence in the assassination would be uncovered.
The source was also quoted as saying that the intelligence forces worked “side by side with Israeli intelligence,” adding that Syria, Lebanon and Palestine were also implicated in the assassination.
