Patriarch Sfeir pessimistic about Lebanese situation
In his Sunday sermon, Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir questioned the willingness of some Lebanese to sell the interests of their country, adding that Lebanon and its history, heritage and traditions would nonetheless persist as long as its people were bound by brotherhood.
Sfeir said Lebanon was witnessing the disintegration of the homeland. “The Government is truncated and the deputies do not meet, and this means that we will see them move down the road towards collapse,” he added.
“This scene does not encourage us to do the impossible to save the country, which is threatened by imminent dangers,” he added.
“We ask God to inspire us for the salvation of our nation and our own salvation,” Sfeir said.
