Mufti Al-Amin calls for state power on all Lebanese territories
Ulama Ali Al-Amin, Mufti of Tyre and Jabal Amel, said the South had suffered many long years of vacuum. “The people of the South and Lebanon know the injury and consequences of the state’s failure to play its role, and of parties playing the role of the state,” he said.
“We want the Lebanese state to fulfill its role on all Lebanese territories,” the mufti added in a press conference in Tyre.
Amin called for the election of a president in parliament at the next parliamentary meeting, set to be held on May 13, urging all Lebanese deputies to “perform their national duties.”
Mufti Al-Amin also called on Syria to make a positive contribution to facilitate constitutional procedures in Lebanon, and not only deal with the Lebanese opposition. “Serious dialogue between Lebanon and Syria must begin,” he added.
