Senior U.S. Diplomat Inspects Control of Northern Borders With Syria
U.S. Chargé d”Affaires Michele J. Sison visited north Lebanon and met officers of the combined force entrusted with controlling the borders with Syria.
Sison noted that the United States has provided the force with a seven-million-dollar worth system of "secure communications" for the force.
"I am impressed with the efforts being made to secure Lebanon”s borders. Through secure borders, it will be possible for Lebanese citizens to build better lives," Sison said.
Since 2006, the United States has committed over 371 million dollars to the Lebanese Armed Forces. The United States also supports the Internal Security Forces with a grant of 60 million dollars.
