MP Andraous"Aoun – Hezbollah destroying Lebanon"
MP Antoine Andraous of the Democratic Gathering bloc denounced Hezbollah’s “violations of the state and its institutions and facilities,” comparing them to “the practices pursued by the Palestinian leadership between the 70’s and early 80’s, which led at first to overwhelming popularity and then was cursed.”
Andraous issued a statement on Monday in which he also condemned the occupation of downtown Beirut and Hezbollah’s control of the airport under the pretext of resistance, in addition to the disruption of political life and the economy. “Under this pretext, they also justify their state-within-a- state, all in compliance with the wishes of (Syrian President) Bashar Al-Assad and (Iranian President) Ahmadinejad,” he added. Andraous said Hezbollah’s acts aimed at eliminating investment and tourism in Lebanon.
The MP said Hezbollah posed a “real threat” to the Shia and all Lebanese by undermining state institutions and perpetuating the presidential vacuum. Andraous also listed “the establishment of Iranian reserves in the heart of Beirut – from suburb to the airport and other areas – daily attacks on security forces, terrorizing people every night in the capital, infringements on people”s property and burning houses” as strategies to preserve “the sanctity of the resistance.”
Andraous said that, in light of the facts, General Michel Aoun, “a former army commander and Maronite Christian leader,” should be asked what was happening to Lebanon. “Will he become like Emile Lahoud, and give the country to Hezbollah and Iran? Yes, and perhaps much more,” Andraous concluded.
