Sfeir Supports Government Stand on Hizbullah Communications
Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Sfeir declared outright support to a decision by Premier Fouad Saniora”s majority government to eliminate Hizbullah”s communications network.
Sfeir, in remarks to reporters during a visit to Qatar, stressed that the government should have tackled the issue a while ago.
"There is no country in the world that has two states and two armies," the Patriarch noted.
The Lebanese people "due to available freedoms are influenced by ideas coming from Syria, Iran and other states," Sfeir stressed.
The situation in Lebanon is "tense due to external intervention and the lack of internal dialogue."
