March 14: Weapons Free Beirut is Gate to Dialogue
The pro-government March 14 forces have said an end to armed attacks in Beirut and making the Lebanese capital weapons free would be the gate to dialogue.
"Any dialogue under the pressure of arms is not dialogue," said a statement issued by the coalition late Monday.
"The real gate to any dialogue would be through stopping armed attacks in the capital and (other) areas, the return to normalcy, and making Beirut a city free from arms," the alliance added.
March 14 also urged Premier Fouad Saniora”s government to announce occupied Beirut a "stricken city."
They condemned "the expansion of Hizbullah”s operations to reach safe areas, particularly the mountain."
The statement also urged the army to assume responsibility of protecting citizens and expressed readiness to cooperate with the military command to reach "this national objective."
The coalition slammed Hizbullah”s "adventurous coup" to put its stranglehold on the country and the Lebanese.
