Geagea: Resistance Not Mentioned in Doha Accord
Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea has noted that the Doha Accord is the first ever Arab Document adopted in 15 years that does not include any mention of the resistance.
Geagea, addressing reporters at his residence in Meerab on Saturday, explained that giving the opposition veto powers in the forthcoming cabinet is of no significance because the cabinet would be pre-occupied with almost one mission that is setting the stage for the parliamentary elections in mid 2009.
The law, adopted for the 2009 elections, is not "the ideal law, but it is much better than the Ghazi Kenaan law," Geagea added.
The Doha Accord "should be fully adopted starting with electing Gen. Michel Suleiman President … and the spread of state authority on Lebanese territories," he added.
We will back Gen. Suleiman during his term but we expressed our reservations towards the election process itself, Geagea said.
