Ambassador Youssef notes positive climate
Ambassador Hisham Youssef, director of the office of Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa, said there are no fears that any of the parties to the Doha Accord will revoke their agreement, especially after the election of President Michel Sleiman ended a presidential vacuum of more than six-months.
“The Doha Agreement constitutes a good start and builds hope about restoring the stability that has been missing in Lebanon for 20 months,” Youssef told the Saudi daily Okaz.
“It is important to preserve what has been achieved, especially the election of President Michel Sleiman, and then to form the government and reaffirm the notion that any problem between the Lebanese can be solved through consensus,” he added.
Youssef said that, in the upcoming period, there will be intensive visits to Beirut in order to follow-up on the implementation of the Doha Agreement and work on Syrian-Lebanese relations.
