Aoun congratulates Hizbullah”s "resistance"
Free Patriotic Movement leader Gen. Michel Aoun said Monday he gave up his quest for the presidency as a "ransom to free election constituencies from detention."
Aoun, talking to reporters after a meeting of his Change and Reform bloc, said his FPM”s understanding with Hizbullah is "the best settlement to reach an understanding on Hizbullah weapons."
He said any "financial, or non-financial, intervention in the elections would be an act of aggression against us, especially in our constituencies."
Aoun said he asked premier-designate Fouad Saniora for the portfolios of finance, public works, health, social affairs and agriculture or industry.
He congratulated Hizbullah”s "resistance" on the release of Nassim Nisr from Israeli jails.
