Gemayel: Certain Factions Want to Change the Regime
Phalange Party leader Amin Gemayel on Tuesday spoke of indications that certain factions want to change the Lebanese regime and stated that this should be done by dialogue and not by the use of firearms.
"We are ready to cooperate with President Michel Suleiman, Premier Fouad Saniora and all the loyal people to rescue Lebanon," Gemayel told reporters.
"Some ideas we hear and practices we observe indicate that there is a wish to reconsider the Lebanese regime. This topic should top the agenda of the forthcoming cabinet," Gemayel noted.
"If there are trends to work out a new constitution, they should not be implemented in the street and by the use of arms. Let us sit and think," he added.
