MP Franjieh: Aoun has not realized that the game is over
MP Samir Franjieh said that the naming of Fouad Siniora as prime minister “is not a provocation to anyone.”
“PM Siniora has declared that words are much stronger than guns, and that he will continue the course of rebuilding institutions. His commissioning means that the majority did not win, and the opposition did not lose,” Franjieh told the Lebanese daily Al-Liwaa.
“The opening of the parliament, the election of President Michel Sleiman, the removal of the opposition’s sit-in and the commitment not to use weapons against the inside, all constitute a failure of the project of Hezbollah, which attacked Beirut and the Mountain,” he added.
“President Sleiman is the strongest president that Lebanon has known, for he enjoys the support of Arabs and the international community. Yet, internal support is missing,” he said.
Franjieh criticized MP Michel Aoun for acting as a victor after the invasion of Beirut and as if he were the upcoming president of Lebanon.
“He has not discovered yet that the game is over,” he declared.
Franjieh also noted that the latest speech by Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah did not reflect a victory.
