The Annual Convention between the Lebanese Forces Students Association and the Konsevativ Ungdom from Denmark
On Wednesday the 28th of May, nine members of the KU (the youth wing of the Conservative People”s Party in Denmark) reached Beirut to participate in an exclusive four days seminar with the LFSA held in Harissa’s Beit Anya. The visit also included a tour in some of Lebanon’s historic attractions in Beirut and Byblos and certainly included a taste of Lebanon’s magical night life.
The Seminar
Multiple lectures and sessions followed by workshops were distributed on the three days of the seminar which started on Thursday the 29th and ended on Saturday 31st of May, allowing the participants to enjoy a free Sunday.
Thursday the 29th:
The first session aimed to explore both cultures and backgrounds, titled “Exploring both cultures of KU & LFSA” presented by Charbel Sawaya from the LFSA and David Pontoppidan from the KU. The second session and first lecture was given by Dr. Akel Keyrouz, titled “Democracy and Dialogue”, followed by the last session of the day under the name of “Internal associations, organization and exchange of experience” this session helped to better understand the structure of both parties, the slideshow was presented by Rene Boulos and David Pontoppidan. Each of the sessions was followed by an interactive workshop between the participants of both parties.
Friday the 30th:
The day started with the first session, “Increase youth participation” given by Wissam Habchi & Charbel Sawaya from the LFSA and Karolina Dolata on behalf of the KU. The day included two lectures “Youth leadership (conflict resolution)” given by Mr. Fadi Fayad and the “Human Rights” lecture by Mr. Fadi Hajj. Each of the sessions was also followed by a workshop. The day also included a visit to the LFSA office at Dbayeh for a brief meeting with the Vice Chairman of the LFSA, Tony Darwish.
Saturday the 31st:
On Saturday the first lecture was about conservatism, titled “Conservative values” given by Mr. Samer Aoun, afterwards the participants visited the Lebanese Forces headquarters in Moarab for a Q&A session with the LF foreign affairs advisor Mr. Elie Khoury. After returning to Harissa, both parties adopted the “Lady of Lebanon” protocol.
The Lady of Lebanon protocol
Named after Harissa, the location where the seminar was held and where the statue of the Lady of Lebanon resides, the resolution addressed the common grounds and values between both parties and the need to further develop the mutual partnership on al levels for a stronger future cooperation. The resolution also included different projects which will be revealed once ready also included a plan to work on a common communication platform. This accord was signed by David Pontoppidan (Chairman, Middle Eastern Committee) on behalf of the Danish delegation and Wissam Habchi (Head of PR and Foreign Affairs Department) on behalf of the Lebanese delegation.
Finally, it is only right to say that this gathering between both conservative youth organization will not only help in shaping the future relations between both parties and countries but will help in shaping a better future where democracy, freedom and human values reign supreme.
