Ban to Discuss International Tribunal”s Hearings Schedule with Lebanon”s Government
U.N. Secretary General Ban ki-Moon said he would discuss with the Lebanese government setting a date for launching the international tribunal”s hearings.
Ban, in a television interview, said the court”s registrar is involved in administrative arrangements to launch the tribunal that would try suspects in the 2005 assassination of ex-premier Rafik Hariri and related crimes.
Ban”s forthcoming visit to Saudi Arabia, scheduled for Saturday, would include consultations with King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz on a variety of international issues, including the Saudi Monarch”s initiative for dialogue among the various religions, the U.N. chief explained.
