MP Chehayeb: The opposition will make way when it gets what it wants
MP Akram Chehayeb of the Democratic Gathering bloc headed by MP Walid Jumblatt said that the opposition is using the issue of ministerial portfolios to divert attention from its regional goals.
“The issue is not sovereign ministries, as long as there are weapons in every alley,” Chehayeb told Al-Sharq al-Awsat daily. The real matter at hand is the new government’s defense strategy and plan of action, “so that the state will be in the service of Hezbollah’s weapons,” he added.
“Once the opposition gets what it wants, it will make way.”
Chehayeb added that Aoun has his personal interests to consider, “but it is Hezbollah that has the last word.”
