MP Houri: Aoun is on the outside due to his opposition to everything
MP Ammar Houri of the Future bloc said that no one can know when exactly the government will be established and added that the opposition is not united, which leads him to fear that General Michel Aoun is remaining outside the government “as a result of his opposition to everything.”
“General Aoun is trying to take us back to the pre-Taif Agreement era,” Houri told the Qatari daily Al-Sharq.
“It would be nice if the international climate would allow us to regain the Shebaa Farms. The matter of weapons will also be discussed during the dialogue that will be directed by the president in Baabda,” he added.
“This is why we hope that the government will be established as soon as possible in accordance with the Doha Agreement.”
“How could we go against the Doha Agreement? Are we the ones using weapons?” Houri said in response to accusations that the majority is obstructing the agreement’s implementation.
“I don’t expect Speaker Nabih Berri to call for a legislative session on the electoral law, which would be a constitutional violation and heresy.”
“This is a caretaker government, and we need a permanent one to oversee the adoption of legislation,” Houri said.
