Zahra responds to “Syrian-trained” Franjieh

In response to Marada leader Sleiman Franjieh’s comment that Fatah al-Islam leader Shaker Al-Abssi represented more Christians than Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea, MP Antoine Zahra on Thursday said Abssi “in fact represents [former] Minister Sleiman Franjieh, because they are part of the same school and background.”

Zahra described Franjieh and Abssi as both having graduated at the hands of Syrian intelligence.

“Former Minister Sleiman Franjieh hurt the feelings of all Christians by saying what he said, because when he recounts Zahle, east Sidon and the Mountain, he reminds all Christians that the Lebanese Forces and Samir Geagea were in the natural position to defend their people, their fate and their freedom in the face of the aggressors,” he added.

On Change and Reform MP Ibrahim Kanaan’s electoral law proposal, Zahra stressed that the contents of Kanaan’s proposal were contained in the Fouad Boutros draft.

“There is no need to propose electoral divisions either, because they are contained in the Doha Agreement signed by Lebanese rivals,” he commented.
