Labor Union to Launch Sit-In
The General Federation of Labor Unions said its executive council would launch a "symbolic sit-in" at Premier-designate Fouad Saniora”s office to protest against soaring prices.
The protest was scheduled for June 30.
The GFLU, in a statement, blamed economic hardships on Saniora”s caretaker cabinet.
The GFLU launched a vehement attack on Saniora and charged him with delaying formation of the new cabinet.
The statement said President Michel Suleiman is the authority entrusted with the mission of tackling the people”s ordeal resulting from the soaring prices of basic and consumer commodities.
The GFLU”s latest protest was organized on May 7 and used by Hizbullah as a curtain to launching its offensive against Beirut and Mount Lebanon.
