Siniora denies control over Finance Ministry
After visiting President Michel Sleiman, Siniora on Thursday said that with “vision and wisdom,” he was certain a national unity government that satisfied all parties would be formed. The PM stressed that he would not spare any means to find that formula, but added that there was progress in the government formation.
“I cannot say that all obstacles have been resolved. I cannot talk about the next forty-eight hours. But I am a little more relaxed today than I was previously,” he added.
Replying to reporters at the presidential palace, Siniora said that there would only be four sovereign portfolios. He also denied accusations that he intended to keep the Finance Ministry.
On rising bread prices, Siniora said it was a matter for the Minister of Economy. “This is the livelihood of people… Bread is essential to all Lebanese, especially among low-income owners, and the state is working to address this matter,” he noted.
